anyone else pitching for Hispanic Heritage Month? here are some tips!
While we all celebrate being Latine year-round, we cannot deny that a lot of opportunities come our way as soon as Hispanic Heritage Month starts approaching. If you’re hoping to lock in speaking engagements or press features this fall, now is the time to be doing some outreach.
what kind of opportunities should we be looking for during this time?
Speaking engagements at universities, ERGs and nonprofit organizations
Press features in media outlets + podcasts that can consist of:
Sharing your founder story
An interview based on your area of expertise
Being included on a round-up of businesses to support during HHM
how can I get ready to pitch?
Whether your are pitching for speaking gigs or for media coverage, you’ll want to develop some kind of one-sheet and/or media kit. This kit will include all important information about you and your business in one place, to make it easy for the editor or whoever is considering you for speaking to see your past coverage + experience.
You’ll also always want to do research on who you’re pitching to so that in your pitches you can truly demonstrate the value you’ll bring to their audience and subscribers.

Similarly to when you’re pitching yourself for speaking gigs, you’ll want to make sure you have a media kit (mine is on my website, if you want to take a look) ready to send, a press release (just in case) and of course, a personalized pitch.
