It’s Here: The Book That Started a Movement Is Back
In all my feels because the second edition of Jefa in Training is out today.
It feels surreal.
When I first pitched Jefa in Training in 2019, I was told by many in the publishing industry that my idea was "too niche" and that there wasn’t a market for a business book tailored to Latinas. Thankfully, a team of powerful Latinas at my publisher saw its potential and understood the urgent need for this resource. Fast forward to 2025, and Latinas remain one of the fastest-growing demographics of entrepreneurs in the U.S. Our community has proven there is a demand for culturally relevant tools and stories—and many more Jefas still need this book.
This second edition brings back the same actionable steps, empowering insights, and accountability-driven worksheets that readers loved in the first edition—but with an added layer of inspiration. Beatriz Acevedo, a true icon and la Jefa de las Jefas, has written a powerful foreword that feels like a full-circle moment. I remember nervously reaching out to her to endorse the first edition, never imagining she’d not only become one of its biggest champions but also collaborate with me to expand its impact through our Jefa Bootcamp series, which now serves thousands of Jefas through self-guided video modules and quizzes.
Over the past three years, I’ve heard countless stories from Latina entrepreneurs sharing how Jefa in Training made them feel seen. They’ve told me how the way the book "sounds like a prima giving you actionable steps" gave them the confidence to launch their businesses, and how stories from other Latinas kept them inspired to keep going. These moments are what have kept me going.
For myself and so many others, entrepreneurship is more than a career path—it’s a way to close wealth and wage gaps, break cycles of financial trauma, and create generational wealth. From 2017 to 2021, Latina-owned businesses grew by 33%, far outpacing the growth of other businesses (Miami Herald). Yet systemic barriers remain. Jefa in Training was created to address these challenges head-on, equipping Latinas with the tools to build businesses that change lives—including their own.
I hope this next chapter of Jefa in Training inspires even more Jefas to pave their own paths. Imagine the impact: If just 100 more Latinas start businesses generating $100K annually, that adds millions to our collective economy. That’s not just growth; that’s magical transformation.
Beyond buying the book, here are a few ways to amplify its reach:
📚 Purchase an extra copy to gift to another Jefa.
📖 Request it at libraries and pitch it to schools.
💬 Bring me in to speak at your company, book club, or event.
📰 Share the book with editors, journalists, and podcasters.
Most importantly, support Latine-owned bookstores whenever you can. Every small step spreads the word and creates a big difference.
To my readers: Mil, mil gracias. Thank you for the last three years of believing in the mission and vision of this book. You are everything to me. Jefa in Training has changed my life—not just professionally, but personally. It has connected me to lifelong friends, inspiring clients, and a community that makes me feel seen and supported. And while everything may feel heavy, we know community is everything.
If the book has helped you in any way, I’d love to hear from you: How has this book impacted your journey?
With so much love and gratitude from your favorite multicultural author who may or may not be in tears of joy writing this,
xx
