Embracing the Eras of Life + Business
Seeing pivots as opportunities and how to stay focused on doing all "the things".
Hola familia,
As you probably know by now, I’m in my new homeowner era. We officially moved in this weekend which means I’ve been (extra) all in my feels, taking in this milestone and unpacking boxes while also still renovating my office. I’ve been running The Jefa in Training Circle Community programming from the couch cushions currently located on the floor of my dining room - but my heart is so happy.
This is our 7th move in the last 8 years (4 of which were driven cross-country) and so this feeling of everything being everywhere is not foreign to me. And while we’ve lived in many spaces, this is the first time I’ve felt truly at home. Because it’s ours - a representation of our hard work over the last near decade, but also a foundation for our future. And even with all of the renovations, new appliance purchases, and slight overwhelm - it feels like we’re growing. And you all know, I love, no, I am probably a little obsessed, with growth.
So in other words, I am loving my new homeowner era. But eras, don’t often come without pivots.
So let’s embrace the pivots too.
Have you ever heard me say that if you are having something going on in your business, it’s probably going on in your personal life too? Or vice versa?
This has been the “pivot for the big vision” year. The “planting seeds for future me” year.
I mention it now because much like my homeowner era was not entirely planned for this year, neither was the launch of my membership community.
Both decisions were made because I saw an opportunity to pivot, even without feeling 100% ready - but here’s the thing. I’ve learned we’re never truly ready for anything that is good for us.
And sure enough, both have yielded very fulfilling results and I cannot imagine having stuck with my original roadmap for the rest of the year.
Whenever I’m faced with the opportunity to pivot and the little voice in my head is starting to question my spontaneous spirit, I ask myself “is this decision setting things up for the life I want future me to have?”, if the answer is no, and I’m basing my decision off of my current situation, then I will walk away.
We often get so caught up in the day to day that we don’t allow ourselves to think about our vision. Does what we’re doing now align with where we want to be in our personal and professional lives in 1 year? 3 years? 5 years?
I challenge you to think about this today.
We’ve been doing a lot of this kind of work with my 1 on 1 clients and in The Jefa in Training membership community - and let’s just say it’s been eye opening for many - myself included.
Remember, that your purpose will always keep you aligned, but your vision will give you direction.
Don’t ever lose sight of your vision.
And if it starts to get blurry, that’s what I’m here for! 🧚
Meet the jefas of VOLVERde, this week’s featured brand founded by #JefasCreatingImpact.
Your new favorite online marketplace for plastic free everyday essentials.
Monica and Aidee are the hermanas who founded VOLVERde, the Latina-owned online marketplace making it easier to shop sustainably and minimize plastic waste while honoring our Latinx cultural traditions of sustainability.
VOLVERde features a range of eco-friendly products, carefully curated (and all BIPOC-owned brands) to align with their values of quality, sustainability and cultural connection. VOLVERde aims to return to the traditions of reusing, repurposing and being conscientious stewards of our planet’s resources.
This month, they are participating in Plastic-Free July, a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution by offering easy, culturally relevant, low-waste starter kits and an educational series highlighting the disproportionate impact plastic pollution has on communities of color.
The kits include an assortment of refillable, compostable or reusable products of everyday essentials, including cloth napkins, hair care, eco-friendly cleaning supplies, and much more. Each product has been handpicked for its quality, functionality, and adherence to sustainability principles.
My #SEÑORASUMMER is calling for this ZERO WASTE SEÑORA KIT. But the haircare starter kit is also tempting…
How are you participating in Plastic-Free July?

Let’s build something great together.
The Jefa in Training membership community is sold out, but my DMs are still open for a limited time! I still have 3 spots open for the ALAS program for 2023. Community, accountability, strategy, direction, and clarity - and the time/space to make moves towards the business you want to build.
As always, I’m here for whatever you need.
Written con mucho amor from my temporary office (the couch cushions on my floor).
xx,
